Norwood Cape House.
Available for dismantling, a small Massachusetts cape, measuring 26 1/2' by 28 1/2', dates from the endof the eighteenth century. It features a gable end facade with entrance plusa side entrance accessing the parlor and a doorway out the old kitchen. Thetimber frame is soft wood while the chimney, constructed of brick, is notcentered on the ridge. The entry is entirely board sheathed, vertical on the interior walls andhorizontal on the outside walls. The doors here and throughout out thehouse are batten in construction. Turning left leads to a small room withfireplace and open cupboard, vertical interior board walls and horizontalboard wainscot. The parlor has the same treatment except a mantel has belaid on the vertical boards defining the fireplace opening. In the kitchen,all the walls are sheathed to the ceiling with boards. The pantry isfinished the same way with some of the original shelving intact. Again theborning room has vertical board partitions and board wainscot. The secondfloor was upgraded in the 1920's and has no historic significance. Originalflooring is under later strip flooring. The owner is willing to part withthe house for a small fee, the purchaser will have to pay for dismantling.
